After a busy year, Ailith and Hanna took three months off and went to explore the Congo rain forest in Africa, each carrying only one backpack.
One morning, while swimming in Lake Tanganyika by herself, Ailith found a pirate chest. She estimated the number of gold coins in that chest to be around 100. She knew each backpack could only carry around 70 coins -- the coins were quite large and heavy!
Assuming that the option to come back for the rest of the treasure after the trip is off the table, two obvious options came into her mind immediately:
1) to take 70 and let the remaining 30 coins there for the next explorer
or
2) to share her discovery with Hanna and negotiate for a bigger share.
What would you advise her to do considering her undeniable greed for personal interests as well as her tendency to share this treasure with Hanna? Can you think of a better option?
Here is one solution to Ailith's Dilemma. |
